My teenage son has special needs and is therefore in nappies. Recently he had a vesicostomy, a surgical procedure that creates an opening just above the groin to allow urine to flow freely, to avoid his urine to back up to his kidneys. The opening is barely covered by the top of the nappy - the part where there is hardly any absorbent padding. During the day this was not a problem as the urine flowed downwards, but at night when he was sleeping on his stomach, there was hardly any absorbency. Every morning he woke up soaked through - I had to change him from head to toe, and the same with his bedding. The hospital suggested I use sanitary towels as extra padding, which I did... and although it helped a bit, he was still waking up wet. I tried various options... washable nappies, various pads, and nothing worked. Until I tried this pad. The pads are really long so I can fold it to three times its thickness. it covers the area, my son is comfortable. No more soaking bedding.... no more soggy pyjamas... and my house no longer stinks of pee.I know this is not the official purpose of this product, but is definitely a winner in my book.
