Stairlifts are designed for indoor staircases and are installed directly onto the stairs rather than the wall. This allows them to be fitted in a wide range of properties, including homes with narrower staircases or limited space. Once installed, a stairlift provides consistent, seated travel between floors, helping keep the whole home accessible.
The layout of the staircase determines the type of stairlift required. Straight stairlifts are used on staircases without turns or intermediate landings. Curved stairlifts are manufactured to follow staircases with bends, corners or multiple landings, with the rail made to suit the exact measurements of the staircase.
Modern stairlifts can be specified with a range of practical features to support everyday use. These may include swivel seats to assist with safer transfers, folding seats and footplates to help keep stairways clear, and hinge rails where doorways or walkways need to remain unobstructed. Many stairlifts operate on battery power, allowing continued use during power cuts.
At Millercare, we supply stairlifts as part of our wider home mobility services. Every installation begins with an assessment of the staircase and surrounding space, helping ensure the solution is suitable for both the property and day-to-day use.
Ongoing servicing helps ensure stairlifts continue to operate reliably over time, particularly where equipment is used frequently as part of daily routines. Millercare provides servicing and maintenance support through our dedicated service centre, with experienced engineers available to carry out inspections, repairs and routine maintenance. Working 365 days of the year, they are always available.

Millercare also offers a stairlift buy back service. If a stairlift is no longer required, customers can contact our team to discuss buy back availability. Buy back is assessed based on the stairlift model and its condition.
Further details about how the process works can be found on our stairlift buy back page.
Every staircase is different, which is why a home assessment is the best place to start. This allows our mobility specialists to measure the staircase accurately, discuss suitable stairlift options and extras, and explain what installation, servicing and ongoing support would look like in your home.
Sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin. A free home assessment provides the opportunity to talk through your needs, ask questions, and explore practical stairlift solutions with expert guidance.
